Jennifer Lawrence and her brother set to throw party to help girl with leukemia

Actress and Kentucky native Jennifer Lawrence along with her brother are doing their part to help a young Louisville girl recover from her battle with leukemia.
Hadley Mercer was diagnosed at only six months old. She recently celebrated her first birthday in the hospital with her parents and two older sisters. Hadley has undergone 20 spinal taps and chemotherapy treatment for months to battle her aggressive cancer. She received a bone marrow transplant in April, and the family has learned the chemo and transplant worked.
Hadley's now in remission, but she's still in the hospital for treatment for complications from the transplant.
There have been some bright spots along the way. In December, Lawrence, who is a family friend, visited Hadley and other children at the hospital.
"She (Jennifer Lawrence) had to put on a gown and mask and she came in and saw Hadley and gave her a signed poster," said Ashlie Mercer, Hadley's Mother. "It will be cool when Hadley is older."
"She's always had a soft spot for children, and especially sick children, so that was kind of what led to her going down there - help the family," said Ben Lawrence, Jennifer Lawrence's Brother.
Ben is helping organize a block party through the company he co-owns, Louisville Geek, along with several other businesses.
The money raised at the block party this Saturday, June 21 will help the Mercers pay their medical bills.
Ben says they expect one item up for auction to be especially popular: a trip to a private island in Belize arranged by the Oscar-winning actress, an island she herself has visited.
Jennifer Lawrence has also donated signed memorabilia from the Hunger Games and American Hustle to be auctioned at the block party.

Jennifer Lawrence speaks to Harpers Bazaar UK in new issue

E! Online has posted this great article along with amazing shots of Jennifer Lawrence in Harper's Bazaar UK where she even discusses harsh words that have been said about her weight.
The issue hits newstands on Thursday.
Here's a bit from it:
The Oscar winner revealed that she was often harangued over her weight during her early years in show business.
"I was young. It was just the kind of s--t that actresses have to go through," Lawrence, now 23, told the magazine (via Just Jared). "Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn't lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. It was just that."

With her delicate baby face and curvy figure, the Kentucky native didn't exactly fit the stick-figure profile we're used to seeing from Tinseltown these days when she appeared as a teen in such films as The Poker House and The Burning Plain before gaining acclaim for 2010's Winter's Bone.
Just because she's become a superstar by toplining a mega-successful franchise and winning a Best Actress Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook, that doesn't mean Lawrence has forgotten how she was treated by image-obsessed folks in the industry.
"[Someone brought up] that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn't still hurt me. That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I'm above it all. 'You really still care about that?' Yeah. I was a little girl. I was hurt," said J.Law in no uncertain terms. "It doesn't matter what accolades you get. I know it'll never happen to me again. If anybody even tries to whisper the word 'diet,' I'm like, 'You can go f--k yourself."

Jennifer Lawrence in Jordan's Living Well Magazine

Here is a bit from the article:

The world is totally besotted with Jennifer Lawrence, and for good reason. Despite her swift rise to becoming Hollywood’s biggest it girl, the star seems totally unfazed by fame; she’s still silly, self-deprecating, and always body-positive. Hailed by critics and praised by fellow actors and directors, Lawrence was described by Peter Travers of Rolling Stone as “some kind of miracle. She’s rude, dirty, funny, foulmouthed, sloppy, sexy, vibrant, and vulnerable, sometimes all in the same scene, even in the same breath. No list of Best Actress Oscar winners would be complete without the electrifying Lawrence in the lead. She lights up the screen.”
The new face of Dior? Check. Number one on AskMen’s 2013 list of Top 99 Most Desirable Women?  Check. Grounded? Of course. “The only thing I can do well is shoot a bow and arrow – which I learned to do for The Hunger Games and will probably never come in handy – and act,” Lawrence told W Magazine. “Imagine me 100 years ago: I would have been pointless.” Now that has to be the understatement of the year so far. Lawrence isn’t just someone who can act; she’s widely regarded as the latest big Hollywood discovery. With producers fawning over the flaxen-haired beauty and designers clambering to dress her, the young luminary continues to take it all in her stride, and with a splash of humor to keep things real. “Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid,” she said to Vanity Fair. “Everybody asks, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life.’”
If she was going to get cocky, now would be the time. Lawrence – or J-Law, as she’s been nicknamed – has come a long way fast. Raised in suburban Louisville, Kentucky, Lawrence describes her childhood to ContactMusic.com as “happy, but also scary, sweaty, and loud.” At 14, whilst vacationing with her family in New York, she was discovered by a top talent scout. Although she did then take on a few small commercial roles, her parents insisted she focus on her studies before pursuing acting. Lawrence raced through her high school syllabus, finishing school two years ahead of her peers with a GPA of 3.9, so she could concentrate fully on acting.

Catching Fire teaser to show at MTV Movie Awards?

On the most recent episode of our new, all-fandom podcast Hype, an interesting question was raised by Sonya: Could the first Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer arrive with the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 14?
Sonya’s guess is an educated one. Last week Catching Fire star Sam Claflin said he’s seen a trailer, which would indicate one is ready for launch. We also remembered that The Hunger Games teaser trailer debuted at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011 – six months away from the release of the film itself.
A release on Sunday, April 14 would put it just over seven months away from Catching Fire’stheatrical opening. The MTV Movie Awards has been a hot spot for first looks at highly-anticipated films, so it wouldn’t surprise us to see The Hunger Games sequel’s trailer debut at the high profile event.
Remember: This is complete speculation on our part, but worth bringing up given the first film’s trailer saw a release at an MTV awards event.
Though Catching Fire is still a ways away, early anticipation has run rampant thanks in part tobeautiful posters released featuring the lead characters.
